questions?   >>*ALL* my drawrings   >>my animashun!   >>my process   >>when i have feels

(not an artist, i draw for a living; not talented, just hard-working)
Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else is me doing useless animation and drawings :T
but i think if you put a lot of heart into something it will be reciprocated.

Attention all 101,000+ of you: FEMA, Red Cross, Army Corps of Engineers, etc. are barely making a dent in the rebuilding of the Rockaway peninsula. Residents there need your help and your time.  They still have no power, heat, and in some cases no running water or functional plumbing. Occupy Sandy is doing the most on-the-ground work right now and they are in need of supplies and human power.

Please see OCCUPY SANDY: ROCKAWAYS for info on how to help and where to donate. You can also check out the main OCCUPY SANDY site for info on helping other ravaged parts of NY and NJ.

Please REBLOG. Merely “liking” this post won’t help!

The list below is only part of the directory we’ve pulled together — much, much more After Sandy info via the link.
Where can I donate my time or money?
We’ve got a growing list of shelters, charities and volunteer organizations on our How to Help page.
How can I find someone who’s missing?
Check Red Cross’s Safe and Well Tracker, where you or your loved ones can register to say you’re safe.
When will I get my power back?
Con Edison says that as of Thursday morning, approximately 676,000 customers out of service. That included 227,000 in Manhattan, 103,000 in Queens, 59,000 in Brooklyn, 83,000 in Staten Island and 36,000 in the Bronx. In Westchester County, the company reported 166,000 customers out of service. The NY Times has a map of power outages around the five boroughs.
Jersey Central Power & Light has a list of estimated restoration times, and says the majority of customers will be restored within the next seven days.
LIPA says it’s already restored power to 110,000 customers, and is still working this week with an estimated restoration time of 7 to 10 days. Some may get their power before then, but some will also get it after that time. That’s the general window.
Where can I find gas?
According to AAA, as of 9 a.m. Thursday, these stations reported having gas available in New Jersey and Long Island. You should check with them before making the trip.
Where are the shelters near me?

THE ‘OTHER SIDE’ OF SANDY NOT SEEN ON TV OR IN NEWSPAPERS. Sandy also struck CUBA, HAITI AND THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC Images that you will not see in the newspapers or on TV. There are now many more homeless people in Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic suffering from the ravages of hurricane Sandy passing through their respective nations, prior to the hurricane also pummeling the east coast of the United States. In solidarity with all people, in light of the loss of their homes and loved ones, we must also speak out for them. Pain and suffering does not care about borders and true compassion has no flag to wave. Our hearts are with all who are impacted by this international tragedy. Please become more informed and support the efforts of groups attempting to help lives everywhere, who know no borders. I have a friend in Jamaica who says it is pretty bad there too.

Know Your Creator Rights; Support Art Professor Michael Jantze →

zimmay:

A former teacher of mine Michael Jantzee, SCAD professor and creator of the daily strip The Norm, is facing a legal battle that so many freelance artists too often have to face. The summarized situation in his own words:

Here’s what happened to me in a nutshell: I worked for free for someone for a year and now he claims I owe him money. Really? That’s how this works for artists now? This has got to stop…for ALL of us!

I learned so much about creative business from him, and it pains me to see his own now threatened. Please take a moment to check out his indiegogo fundraiser to read his story, and if you don’t want to or can’t contribute, please reblog.

It’s terrible how many artists suffer in similar situations and get taken advantage of by clients. Artists, before you even start work you should be getting paid for, always make sure there is a contract in place between you and your client. Among other details, said contract should specifically state that you will be compensated for your work and how much, and if the client can’t pay you right away, make sure the contract says when you will be paid. It might seem silly while you’re working out these details, but that kind of paperwork can carry a lot of weight if you ever find yourself in legal trouble.

I’m not sure if such a contract was involved in my professor’s work or not, but I am certain something like it could only help him now. It seemed a relevant tangent. Anyway, please take a look at the indiegogo page and reblog. Thank you!

Jantze was also one of my professors and I hope you all will donate anything you can! I know I am going to!

This isn’t just a call to help a professor of mine; but to help prove that people can’t just push artists around as they please.

Funny how everyone needs art and creative types but they sure never want to pay them. And they think they can abuse them. The heck? Help show some muscle y’all.

You guys! Please support Jantze if you can, he’s one of the coolest professors I’ve had at SCAD. If you can’t chip in any money, please reblog for a signal boost!!

I was almost involved in the very struggle that he finds himself in now and Jantze extracted me from it, so aside from Jantze being all around a pretty cool dude, this is extra personal! Wicked signal boost!

How awful! Signal boost! D:

So I heard about this story at a Zumbathon I attended this weekend. To my understanding, a 3 year old was bit by a pit bull and needs facial reconstruction surgery. The community however isn’t doing a very good job at helping because the mother and father of the child have a lot of tattoos. All I could think when I heard this was - Tumblr wouldn’t stand for that. Here is the link to the news story and to the fundraising site, please signal boost :)

Remember CISPA? PIPA? TPP: 4 Days to Stop the Corporate Death Star →

followedbyrainbows:

Big business has a new plan to fatten their pockets: a giant global pact, with an international tribunal to enforce it, that is kept top secret for years (even from our lawmakers!) and then brought down like a Death Star on our democracies. Big Tobacco, Big Oil, Big Pharma, Walmart and almost 600 other corporate lobbyists are all in on the final draft — including limits on smoking laws, affordable medicines and free speech on the Net.

The pain has only just begun: Members of the Sikh community and family members of victims of the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin shooting attend a candlelight vigil held at the Oak Creek Community Center in Wisconsin, on August, 7, 2012. The killer was identified as white supremacist Wade Michael Page, a former U.S. army soldier who described himself as a ”frustrated neo-Nazi”. Page shot dead six people and seriously wounded three, including a police officer, at the Sikh temple on Sunday as worshippers prepared for religious services. Photos: Reuters / Getty Images

My heart.

sincerest condolences to the victims and their family and friends, no words can…
